Explosive force etc... the idea is going 0-100 for 5 sec and gtfo. Shock the enemy so he loses interest and submit out of confussion rather than forcing the submission. Lots of dirty moves targeting the nuts & eyes (even with the rifle). Not meant to be a sport.

Sport, combat and self defense are 3 different things.

In my opinion (training Krav Maga for almost a year) Krav Maga isn't really for defeating trained martial artists. Its practical self-defense against idiots. Trained martial artists don't mug people or start street fights. At least I hope they don't. Against an untrained thug (the most likely situation), Krav Maga can be very effective. Its quick and brutal and surprises the thug with blows to the sweet spots. Yeah, a world class fighter will still beat you, but that's not what it's for.

Krav Maga is not out the window at all the difference is you can't use it in MMA because there are simply no rules too krav maga its killed or be killed if it works for the likes of the SAS best special force in the world and navy seals use it who are also excellent soldiers their definitely so degree of effectiveness again look at Israeli it works for them and they been at war for a 1000 years

I training 19 martial arts. Krav maga , real krav maga is definitely my top 5 favorite and most effective. MMA wins cause rules but no rules besides non weapons krav maga wins. Krav maga is the most used martial arts in the army.
